I'm hosting Thanksgiving this year for only the second time! We're hosting my parents and Kyle's family, including his 2 year-old niece, and they all have different expectations for what "Thanksgiving dinner" should look like. Not to mention differing dietary restrictions! As much as I love my tried and true favorites, I'm considering going rogue this year and trying some new things. Here are some easy recipes that I'm considering, let me know if you have any family favorites that I should try!
If you need some hosting help, here are some of my hosting essentials.
Alton Brown's Brined Turkey -
My dad has used this recipe for years, and his turkey is always so moist. I think I'm gonna give this one a try myself!
Ina Garten's Make Ahead Cranberry Sauce - I know, I know, opening a can would be easier, but this recipe can be made a day or two ahead and it sounds soooo much better than that canned stuff!
Cinnamon Maple Sweet Potatoes - Sweet potatoes are one of my favorite foods, and this recipe only takes 30 minutes in the oven! Plus it looks amazing!
Roasted Garlic Mashed Potatoes - I love, love, love garlic mashed potatoes! But can I get away with swapping out the traditional plain mashed potatoes or will I have a mutiny on my hands??
Glazed Carrots - Not too sure how this one will go over, but I can just throw everything into the crock pot and forget about it - my kind of recipe!
Deviled Eggs - Another make ahead recipe! I personally don't really consider this a Thanksgiving Dinner dish, but I know I will have a mutiny on my hands if I don't make these.
Slow Cooker Creamed Corn - A very southern side dish - but so delicious! And, it's only 5 minute prep!
Stuffed Acorn Squash - This one is definitely not the usual for either of our families, but just look how gorgeous this looks! It's also more involved than I would like, but with all the time I'm saving with the make ahead and slow cooker recipes, I think I'll have time to make this one!
Pumpkin Crème Brûlée - I am so excited to try this one! I adore crème brûlée and how cute to serve it in a mini pumpkin!! (I wonder if I can use the ones I've been using for decor?) This can be made ahead and all that has to be done to serve is to torch the top!
Martha Stewart's Cranberry-Meringue Tart - This recipe is one of my all time favorites and will definitely be on my table this year!
I hope this gives you some new ideas to try for your own Thanksgiving dinner! Let me know what's on the menu at your house!
xoxo,
Melissa
