How to Make a Pumpkin Candle

Let's make a pumpkin candle! No, not a pumpkin-scented candle, a pumpkin-in-a-candle.This might be the most fun fall craft I have ever done! This craft will cost you less than $10 and will be one of the highlights of your fall!

Materials list:

Instructions:

  1. Melt down your old candles or the wax flakes. I used red, beeswax, and white candles to make the wax a pretty orange color. If you use old candles, make sure to scoop out the wicks and any little black specks.

Some people suggest a double boiler to melt the wax but it worked for me in a regular pot.

2. Cut the top off your pumpkin. Please be careful because if they aren't ripe they can be very hard to cut. Then scoop out the insides. You can make the hole for the candle as big or small as you like.

3. Add the wick and pour in the melted wax with your funnel. Wicks usually come with a little sticker to hold it down. You can readjust the wick once the wax is poured. Secure the wicks with popsicle sticks so it stands upright

4. Pop the pumpkins in the fridge for an hour or until the wax turns opaque.

Light your candles and enjoy!

Your pumpkin candles will last for 1-2 days at room temperature or up to a couple of weeks in the fridge. Just monitor your pumpkins for signs of rotting before lighting! Burn time will vary by pumpkin size, but never leave a lit candle unattended!
